The design for this residence of approximately 4,000 square feet in an eclectic neighborhood in Irvington was driven by the client’s desire for a dramatic open plan interior and the constraints of a narrow property. In order to limit views of the garage from the front yard and to provide privacy to the pool in the rear the residence took on a “Z” shape in plan. The form provide for an entry drive court and views from the ground floor living spaces across the pool. The master suite and guest suite include north facing balconies with views of the Old Croton Aqueduct. Given the significant glass area and high ceilings, the residence is to employ high effieciency geothermal radiant heating systems.
