An original carriage house for the former Gothic Revival mansion of Lord & Burnham rehabilitated for residential use. The owners' lifestyle criteria and commitment to historic preservation guided fundamental design decisions.

Alterations include a 2,000 sq. ft. two-story addition, and complete interior renovation to create open, loft-style living spaces and a modern energy-efficient environmentally sensitive home, harmonious with the historical genre of the original building and site. Historical features of the original structure were restored. The site planning and landscaping were designed to honor the tradition of gardening and the Old Croton Aqueduct buffer.
